Highway Realigned for Safety in Booraan
In response to many accidents including a fatality, Main Roads WA urged ALine East to improve safety on the Booraan section of the Great Eastern Highway.
In 2003 the Minister for Police was asked in parliament for the number of motor vehicle accidents, fatal or otherwise, and the number of times speed cameras were placed at these locations. Included in her response, Michelle Roberts advised speed cameras were located 781 times on Great Eastern Highway at Booraan.
The level of camera surveillance indicates the seriousness of the safety issue. Realigning the highway to its original location was an obvious solution...
